Christmas festivites enjoyed by our residents and staff
Derwen Christmas Celebrations
Lots of fun and merriment was had by residents over the festive period. Read about a few of these celebrations below…
Treberth – Residents Christmas dinner
Residents from the Treberth Bingo group enjoyed a Christmas dinner get together and sing song at the local Beatty Road Presbyterian Church. Over 20 people attended and one resident described it as, ‘Brilliant’ and said ‘it went very well and thank you to those at the church serving the lunch.’
Summerhill House – Christmas Coffee morning
Summerhill House enjoyed their Christmas coffee morning which saw an amazing turn out.
Avril Williams, Housing & Support Officer, said, ‘I had tea’s and coffee’s at the ready and was fully loaded with mince pies, Christmas Yule Log and other goodies. Everyone had such a wonderful time they wanted to do it again’. It was great to see Derwen staff join in too.
It is great news then that due to the success of the day residents have decided to hold their own fortnightly coffee mornings starting in January 2016.
Manor Court – Festive shopping trip and Christmas Lunch Photo’s
Residents at Manor Court enjoyed a Christmas shopping trip to Cribbs Causeway shortly followed by a fantastic afternoon at The Royal British Legion for their annual Christmas meal. Lots of wonderful Christmas carols were sung and a few bottles of wine were enjoyed too! Diane Richards organised a very successful raffle which raised nearly £100, proceeds will go into the Residents Association and will help to pay for a new greenhouse! What a fantastic turn out and a lovely way to celebrate the season with neighbours and friends!
Grofields – Christmas coffee morning Photo’s
A few glasses of sherry and warm mince pies with clotted cream – 11am might be too early for some people, but not the residents at Grofields! Tales of days gone by and funny stories filled the lounge. Companionship and a good belly laugh warmed the residents (or was it the sherry?!) while the wind and rain howled outside. Grofields certainly got the Christmas party started!
Pant Y Celyn – Christmas Lunch Photo’s
An extravagant buffet was presented at Pant Y Celyn with everyone enjoying lively and jolly conversation with an array of cheese, sandwiches, meats and delicious cakes. The spirit of Christmas was certainly felt by everyone that attended. The celebration was a great way to sit back and enjoy spending time with each other. A real success!
