Over 200 attend The Derwen Do 2016!

Over 200 residents attended our second ‘Derwen Do’ held on 14th September 2016 at the Coldra Court Hotel. Derwen and Newport Care & Repair created a Health & Wellbeing theme this year and a lively, social and fun event to bring together staff and residents alike across all of Derwen.

Once again we were lucky enough to have the brilliant sunshine at the Derwen Do, and the spacious venue offered enjoyable surroundings and plenty of areas to relax.

There was live music, market stalls, now & then reminiscence, laughter yoga, health checks, manicures, give aways, raffle prizes, bingo, and lots of laughter when residents tried their hand at drawing each other’s portraits!

Residents thoroughly enjoying the laughter yoga.

The day was also filled with plenty of advice on finances, and information from Care & Repair, Carers Wales, Community Connectors, RNIB, Age Cymru, Stroke Association, South Wales Fire & Rescue and many more.

It was also an opportunity for you to Have Your Say and for staff to listen to your vision of Health & Wellbeing, Active Ageing and what is most important.

Coming soon – a round up of your views and ideas…

For the first time, we held the Derwen Resident Star Awards to recognise the fantastic difference residents make to others lives. Winners and runners up were presented with framed certificates and prizes in celebration of friendship, giving back to the community and the care and support shown to one another.
